Blue is the rarest demand you can make of vegetable-tanned horse leather. It takes longer. It absorbs deeper. And the hide carries the evidence of every hour in the drum.

The PL1 is where GUIDI began -- the silhouette that defined the house when Ruggero Guidi launched the footwear line from his family's tannery in Pescia, Tuscany. The front-zip boot, stripped to its essentials: a single-piece shaft, a clean vertical zip, a rounded toe, and leather that has spent weeks absorbing vegetable tannins from chestnut bark and mimosa extract in the same stone buildings where Guidi has worked since 1896. Five generations of tanning knowledge compressed into every pair.

In blue, the object-dyeing reveals itself more openly than in darker tones. The fully assembled boot is submerged whole -- upper, sole, heel, stitching -- so the color saturates every surface without a single seam line breaking the tone. Hold it under light and the blue shifts between deep navy and a cooler ink, the natural grain of the horse leather creating subtle valleys where pigment pools heavier. The surface is dense and smooth underhand, with a firm resistance that softens over weeks of wear as the leather maps the architecture of your foot.

GUIDI boots are not finished when you buy them. The break-in is part of the design. The stiff vegetable-tanned leather yields slowly, creasing at the vamp, curving around the ankle, until the boot fits no one else. In blue, every wear mark and flex line will emerge as a lighter trace against the saturated dye -- a patina that records movement rather than hiding it.
