Oyster Clutch

The first time you pull the zipper, the cold metal of the YKK Excella runs through your fingers and the faint bark-and-resin scent of the vegetable-tanned cow leather reaches you before the bag is fully open.

The Oyster clutch is built from two leathers chosen for opposing qualities: vegetable-tanned full grain cow leather on the structural shell, soft sheep leather where the form gives way to touch. The cow leather is firmer, with a fine natural grain that catches light differently at every angle - matte and deep, absorbing rather than reflecting. The sheep leather on the interior surfaces has immediate give, smooth against the hand from the first use. These are not decorative decisions. Moyal selects materials by what each layer needs to do, then constructs each piece to order in Portugal, where the making takes as long as the making requires.
